The Terrence F. Carraway Foundation
On October 3, 2018, the Florence and Darlington communities lost a beloved coach, mentor, and hero.
Sergeant Terrence F. Carraway was fatally shot while responding to assist three Florence County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Sergeant Carraway dedicated his life to service and to giving back to others. He proudly served 23 years in the United States Air Force and 30 years with the Florence Police Department. Beyond his commitment to public safety, Sgt. Carraway was deeply invested in shaping young lives, serving as a football coach at Darlington Middle School and Darlington High School from 2005 to 2011.
Sgt. Carraway’s impact reached far beyond his uniform. His leadership, compassion, and dedication touched countless lives, and his legacy continues to live on through the many individuals he inspired.
Sergeant Terrence F. Carraway
The trauma experienced by myself and my family has been overwhelmingly difficult. Dealing with this tragedy is tough enough on a personal level. The challenges we face will be daunting but rest assured that I am bound and determined to uphold the legacy of my husband, Sgt. Terrence Carraway. He dedicated more than 30 years of his life to serving and protecting his community as well as his brothers and sisters in blue. This should not and will not go unnoticed. The Terrence F. Carraway Foundation has been established to ensure that we will continue to shine Terrence’s light of hope for our first responders, our friends, our families and our communities as we strive to come together."
The Terrence F. Carraway Foundation is committed to continuing Terrence F. Carraway’s vision of fusion—bringing together the community, law enforcement, and first responders through service, education, and interactions.
